Jaymod dead?

Jaybird doesnt post for more than a month. There isnt much activity in forums. There isnt a official update since September 4th, 2007. There isn't any admins active in forums.

if you are not going to work in it, open source it and lets us work ffs. Jaymod is the best etmod ever but players are changing to NQ coz there are no updates and new things. I might do the same tbh

What do you actually want done to it..??

The best mod can't exactly get better very easily.

Well dont forget that the new NQ cant even run with pb due to some memory corruption error.

Is it self modifying or something? The latest corrupted file/memory kick is used when PB's detecting some different bytes than what's in the cgame dll... That's strangeeeeeeee indeed.

I think jaymod development IS dead because of more important things in the real life of the developers. It's ok, but it is very sad that jaymod is dying...
And i assume they will never release the source. But time is running for et and no development means going backwards.
I don't really like NQ, it's too far away from the real et, it's a kind of toy mod. It has some nice things, but all in all it's not that what i want. But if no further development is done in jaymod in the next month, i think i will have a deeper look into NQ and ETPUB.

I think if there's no development soon I might get together with my old team and start up "my" mod again.

I'll keep you guys posted ofc and if there's any developers/people with ideas feel free to contact me :) But this is only if Jaymod's really dead, no point reinventing the wheel otherwise!

It's not just Jaymod but ET in general ... half the servers have bots and that is no fun, even with clanmates or friends.

Most people I know now are either not playing much at all or are not playing ET anymore ...

Personally I am holding out some hope that RTCW II multiplayer will be like a tweaked ET on a new engine ... (so sometime in the next five years lol) ...

None of my friends are playing ET and I have been playing L4D since Christmas.

Yep, needs a kick up the back side and a revival "party" :mrgreen:

But seriously, "pro" (read ETPro-playing prepubescents that take the game far too seriously and have no lives) ET has been dead for a long time. Jaymod (fun mod) is pretty much keeping it alive, NQ is not practical for many servers, I know changing from Jaymod -> NQ has killed quite a few servers. Also etpub is not the same as Jaymod in any way, and even etpub's development is at a halt now.

Let me say this way:

People are playing on same mode for ages. If they will get something new they will come back. It's simple thing if you keep doing same thing over and over you will always get bored.

If the new version are released with some new changes and some new things I am sure people will come back.

ET is not dead yet. It's just in ET everyone thinks they should have their own server. Offcourse player amount as dropped but at same point total number of servers have been increased too. It will take time for ET die since its "FREE" online game.

i think jaymod has helped in keeping et alive
but i think there needs to be a new gametype added
peaple dont like to play the same gametype over and over
in medal of honor we keep making new gametypes all the time and mohaa is still going since 2002
jaymod isnt dead it just need a shot in the arm to revive it
example gametypes
free for all team deathmatch capture the flag
all of them should be easy to add by adding info_player spawns in the map script
and remove the objectives by scripting
